Two Years Since Starting the Adoption Process

Yes, it has been 2 years as of today since starting the adoption process.  Hard to believe, right?  Or hard to believe that we are still on the waiting list?  Or as many people have told me recently, hard to believe I haven't just had a baby yet?  If only becoming a mother were that easy.

Sigh.

We are plowing through the paperwork again, getting ready for our 3rd Homestudy...3rd time is supposed to be a charm, right?  But, it is the first homestudy in our new house...the house our kids will call home.  Speaking of home, here are a few pictures...(for those of you who have been bugging me to post these unfinished pictures, you had better comment on this post!...I had to take them anyway to update our Gladney file, homestudy, and dossier.  Please excuse the barren walls and anything else that you notice is not done yet!)

Honestly though, God has been so faithful to show us reasons along the way to answer our question of "why not now?".  For example, last week Isaac took over an existing office for his firm and has been working 12-14 hour days including weekends.  As we were laying in bed after working all day and then redecorating the entire office since clients were rolling in the next day, I told Isaac that as much as I wish the boys were home, it would be so hard to juggle two babies and this other major life change.   God knew I would feel that way, and He knows just how much we can handle with His help.

So, today I'm just thankful.  Thankful for the call to adoption.  Thankful for God's blessings on Isaac and I the past two years.  And thankful for whatever God has planned for our future.

  1. I love your positive posting today. As another person also struggling to patiently wait on God's perfect timing for things in life, I know how truly hard it is as time continues to pass without dreams being realized. So thank you for pointing out that we can still be thankful for things today. What a wonderful reminder.

  2. What a beautiful home! I check your blog from time to time (we're lucky number 13 of the fbi list now, the S-DC family) - so hoping for news, but always trying to remember why I should be thankful for the wait. Thanks for your post and congratulations on the move! All the best,
    Jean

  7. Hi! Well, I've been following your adoption journey since you started. We live in Bradenton, just a little south of you~ Anyways, 2 years is a long time but I cannot wait for you to experience your referral day, then travel day, and next court day, and then embassy day and finally your coming home day!! It's all coming and it is worth ALL of the wait!! We are hoping to start the Ethiopia adoption process in the near future, although it is a 20-32 month wait for our agency. We are willing to wait just to do it all over again! If you ever want to love on an adorable Ethiopian, Easton isn't far away!! =) Hope this made you smile~ With Love, Ashlie www.fulmerstory.blogspot.com

  8. Kyle, your house is gorgeous! Thank you for posting pictures of it for those of us who are too far away to come for the tour right now. I love you and loved spending the weekend with you at C4C. You are a blessing to me and I am glad we are walking this journey together. Praying for E and I!
