Springtime in Florida

We know it is spring in Tampa bay when the temperature creeps back up into the 80s, a few flowers start to rebloom, and the baby cranes are born. These are the last few days before the humidity sets in and the dreaded love-bugs attack!

We started off celebrating Easter with a Saturday night dinner at Sam and Lee's house. Sam's mom, Linda, cooked many yummy appetizers, a beautiful golden turkey and amazing shrimp. The rest of the guests added the side dishes. It was delicious.

Kyle's favorite part of the night was once all of the other guests had left and Sam and Lee's son, Carter, was stalling going to bed. I asked him who's special day is Easter for? Carter replied, "Jesus died...on a tree!...we went in the tomb...and he walked out!...like the marshmallow!" To me, this was the sweetest description of Christ's love for us, I was wiping away the tears as he became more animated and passionate about Jesus' ressurection. And Carter is right, Jesus is like a marshmallow...Carter made resurrection rolls the day before. Resurrection rolls are marshmallows wrapped in crescent rolls and when they are baked, the marshmallow disappears...just the way Jesus disappeared from the tomb. I asked Isaac when we got home that night why is it that a 2 1/2 year-old can understand the gospel when so many adults never get it? I think adults complicate the gospel...it is a pretty simple truth.

After church on Sunday, we were invited to join the Green family for Easter lunch. Mrs. Beth had an awesome Alabama-style spread ready for us. It was fabulous! It was so nice of their family to open their home to us on Easter.

Happy 30th Birthday, Gabe!

This weekend Isaac and I went to Jacksonville to celebrate Gabe's 30th Birthday. Thursday night we got to meet many of Gabe's ultimate frisbee friends. Friday we went out on Gabe's friend Caleb's ski boat with a few of Gabe's friends. Here are a few pictures of the wake-boarding fun and tricks...

The Happiest Place on Earth...

We were privileged to go to the Magic Kingdom at Disney World this past weekend with our good friends Josh and Erica and Lee and Samantha and their boys, Carter and Cooper. We had a great time, but would not recommend going during Spring Break-it was very crowded with strollers everywhere! We felt like we had been through Disney Boot Camp at the end of the day...Cooper was obviously tired, too!
